Julia and Jake’s wedding at The Dalcy was an unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebration. For two souls who met all the way back in high school, can you imagine a better way to celebrate their union? Because we can’t! The love that Julia and Jake share is a deep in your soul, late-night conversations kind of love. They are each other’s home and they share a beautiful connection that their friends and family were honored to celebrate as they rang in the new year.

As you might imagine, December 31st in the Chicago area was a cold winter day. But with a twist. The day brought forth an unexpected light sprinkling of snow. The exact amount of snow needed to make Julia and Jake’s wedding at The Dalcy feel all that more magical. If the sprinkling of snow wasn’t enough to make their day feel like a winter wonderland, there were oodles of white flower arrangements, everywhere. When we say everywhere, we mean everywhere. A beautiful all-white floral arrangement hung overhead as Julia and Jake recited their personal vows of marriage. Later in the night when they took to the dance floor with their guests, rows of disco balls were accented by even more hanging white floral installations. Making it the most unforgettable New Year’s wedding night ever!

Julia and Jake’s New Year’s wedding at The Dalcy was officiated over by Julia’s godmother. Look, we know you have your pick of amazing wedding officiants to choose from. In fact, I’m sure we could happily make a recommendation if you’re stuck on who to trust to oversee and run that part of your wedding day. But at the same time, asking a beloved family member or friend to lead your ceremony, adds that extra level of you-ness to your wedding day. It’s a way to add personal anecdotes and jokes to your wedding ceremony from someone who truly knowns you. But, it’s also a way for all of your guests to feel involved with your day. Yes, even if they aren’t the ones officiating!

Wondering how Julia and Jake’s wedding at The Dalcy could be any better than what we’ve already shared? Well, buckle up because it’s going to get off the chain amazing. With Julia and Jake pronounced as husband and wife, and their marriage made official with a newlywed kiss, it was time to celebrate. But this wasn’t your ordinary wedding day celebration. It was New Year’s Eve after all, so Julia and Jake infused fun elements into their wedding day that really enhanced the overall experience for them and their guests.

When cocktail hour opened up, guests; who were dressed in their best black tie meets sparkly winter wedding day attire, were treated to a full raw bar. Trust us when we say, it was beyond anything you could imagine. You think the amazing night of twists and turns would end there - but we can guarantee, it was only the beginning! Julia and Jake skipped the traditional “sign your name in our guestbook” portion of the evening. Instead, they worked closely with their wedding planner to set up a blank canvas with plenty of black paint and paintbrushes. Guests picked up paintbrushes to add artwork or messages of love for the newlyweds. Leaving them with a fun personalized canvas to hang in their home. Isn’t that such an incredible idea?!

The night didn’t end with the cutting of the cake. Which if you’re asking was a two-tier all-white cake accented by a white satin bow. In fact, things were only heating up! The live band got the energy in the crowd going and the saxophonist even hit the dance floor with some of the guests. As the hour drew closer to midnight, guests donned fun New Year’s hats and kept streamers and poppers on hand for that famous 3,2,1 countdown.
