Melissa and Erik chose the wedding venue Heritage Prairie Farm in Elburn, IL for their fabulous fall wedding day, and they were all about the details and fun elements! One thing we found out while working with Melissa and Erik is that they planned their wedding day to fall on the day of their 11th dating anniversary. Isn’t that the most thoughtful way to go about picking the day you’ll say I do? It’s clear they both have a romantic side and the wedding date was only the beginning.

When we get started with our couples, we always ask them what they have in store for their wedding day. Not like, hey what will your florals look like? (which are plenty beautiful, don’t get us wrong here). But more like, hey, what is happening that you absolutely 100% want to be captured on your wedding video? The answers we get vary from couple to couple and usually depend upon what experiences they value most. For Melissa and Erik, it was planned moments of connection. The big stuff! Like personal vows during their first look, a first look with the wedding party - and then the father of the bride. A ring warming during their wedding ceremony, all the first dances, and an epic sparkler send-off that their guests lined up for when it was time to close out the night.

Melissa and Erik’s fall wedding took place at the Heritage Prairie Farm venue in Elburn IL. The details were rustic chic and evoked the warm tones of the season. And, we have to admit, everything came together flawlessly. From the shade of the bridesmaid's gowns to the lush bouquets (see, we told you we love florals) and the crisp Autumn light pouring into every corner of the venue. These details, along with Melissa and Erik’s love story, and a good laugh or two; made their wedding day warm and inviting. It was like being in attendance at the wedding of an old friend. The type of friend who “knows you” and the type of friend you share “in” jokes with. By the end of the night, every single one of Melissa and Erik’s guests were out of their chairs and on the dance floor with light-up thunder sticks in hand. Because the celebration was just that good!

They are a couple that love big, and love hard - and it was evident to us in the way that they showed that love to their friends and family on their wedding day. Melissa and Erik truly embody what it means to be someone's “other half”. The dynamic in their relationship is one that constantly brings out the best in each other. They share a connection that is romantic, but rooted in friendship, and above all, they are both head over heels for each other in the best way possible.
